Osum Oil Sands Corp (Osum) is the only junior oil sands company pursuing a commercial in situ project in the established Cold Lake area of Alberta, and is one of the largest resource holders in the emerging Grosmont carbonate trend, next to Shell and Husky. With an independent evaluation of 2.5 billion barrels of recoverable resources, and sufficient working capital in place to fund our next set of milestones, Osum is hiring to help us maximize the value of these assets.

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Health & Safety Advisor will be a results oriented individual looking to grow as a leader and as a safety professional in an expanding Oil Sands company. In this new role, you will:
- Provide leadership for the development and implementation of H&S polices and procedures
- Provide H&S management consultation and direction to managers, supervisors and employees
- Conduct health and safety training
- Develop effective prevention training programs
- Consult with operations and construction personnel regarding H&S matters
- Conduct H&S assessments and audits in the field
- Travel to Cold Lake, Wabasca and Saleski on an “as needed” basis.

To be a preferred candidate, you will have a university or college degree/diploma (OH&S) or have H&S certification from a recognized institution combined with at least 3 years working experience in Health & Safety in an Oil and Gas or industrial environment. Additionally, you will be enthusiastic, possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team environment. All of this will be complemented by:

- A CRSP Designation (Considered to be a strong asset)
- Project and time management skills and the ability to get things done
- Knowledge of industrial construction, and/or insitu oil and gas operations processes, would be a strong asset
- A working knowledge of continuous improvement concepts and problem solving
- A working knowledge of Municipal, Provincial and Federal Legislation
- Thorough knowledge of the Alberta Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulation, and Code
- A working knowledge of Workers’ Compensation Board Regulations
- Advanced presentation and written skills
- Proven ability to develop and conduct orientations
- Demonstrated ability to conduct audits, assessments and inspections of different worksites
- An interest in and ability to facilitate programs/initiatives such as:
Health & Safety Committee; Due Diligence; Legal Liabilities of Managers and Supervisors; Fall Arrest, Isolation of Hazardous Energy, Confined Space and other codes of practice; Workers Hazardous Materials Information System; Lift Truck, Overhead Crane, Aerial Lift; Transportation of Dangerous Goods; Confined Space; Lockout
