Taiga Project Update - October 11, 2008

Our proposed development in the Cold Lake area is called the Taiga project, from the Russian word for Boreal forest. The first Town Hall Meeting to introduce the project to stakeholders is scheduled for Wednesday, December 3rd at the Harbour View Community Centre in Cold Lake North.  

The Town Hall will involve displays and an opportunity to meet one on one with project team members from 4PM to 7PM, with a discussion from 7PM to 8PM. A buffet style dinner will be served from 5PM to 6:30PM.  

Taiga Project Highlights:

• The Taiga project will not be located on, in (or under) Cold Lake
• The Taiga project will use the same recovery technology as other operators in the area (SAGD and / or CSS)
• The Taiga project will implement high-efficiency water recycling with makeup from brackish sources - eliminating fresh water use for steam generation.
• The Taiga project is a 30 year development that will involve long term job creation and economic investment.
