Exploring the Subsurface. Part 1. Interview with Dr. Jen Russel-Houston - November 12, 2008

Posted at 11:58 am

In this discussion, Osum's geosciences manager, Dr. Jen Russel-Houston explains the difference between clastics and carbonates, describing the distinct types of pores that typically exist within these two types of sedimentary rocks.

She goes on to explain how geologists "delineate" or characterize reservoirs in order to better understand what is there, how much is there and how best to get it out of the ground.  While geologists can learn a lot about what is below ground from core samples and seismic, they must extrapolate from the relatively small amounts of hard data to accurately model an entire reservoir.

I see your article in the Bonnyville Nouvelle regarding hiring of local people and an Open House in the Community. I would like to attend but will be out of town that day. I am interested in the types of jobs available (through your company) in the area. Can you email me a listing, as I can not find one on your website. thank you
