Operational Update: COVID-19 Response

At Osum, health and safety are our top priority.

More than a month into our pandemic response plan, Osum is firmly focused on doing our part to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus. The health and wellbeing of our employees and the broader community remains top of mind and we continue to closely follow the advice and direction of public health authorities and government.

All employees (Calgary and Orion) who can work from home are doing so and we have implemented precautionary measures at the Orion site, including:

  • Restricting non-essential visitors to site
  • Screening of contractors and suppliers prior to providing access to the Orion site through our Access Pre-Screening Questionnaire
  • Modifying various protocols including mustering, permitting and ticketing to adhere to public health official recommendations regarding physical distancing and the use personal protective equipment
  • More frequent and deeper cleaning of common areas and touch points

Our COVID-19 Response Team continues to meet regularly. Members of this team are also collaborating with industry groups, including CAPP and the Cold Lake region’s COVID Workforce Protection Group, to share best practices and protocols. Our ability to produce has not been impacted and we continue to operate Orion safely and responsibly.

These are uncertain times but we are encouraged by the care being demonstrated by our team members and those in the greater community. We all share the hope for a safe and lasting resolution to the COVID-19 situation.
