Our team is growing and we have an exciting opportunity at Osum based at our Orion facility in Cold Lake, Alberta. Reporting to the Orion Operations Foreman, the Production Technologist will have an integral role to play with gathering and reporting on data related to the reservoir. The positon will work closely with our subsurface engineering and operations teams.

This role will appeal to someone with a diploma in Petroleum Engineering Technology or equivalent, coupled with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the oil and gas field – preferable SAGD. As this is a new position, this opportunity will be ideal for someone who enjoys being creative and working with ambiguity.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Commitment to best practices in health, safety and environmental management
  • Create and maintain databases supporting basic reservoir engineering data and well performance
  • Gather and ensure quality data for reservoir surveillance, volumetric calculations and production history matching
  • Perform basic decline curve analysis for forecasting, type well analysis, and documentation of decline parameters for various reservoirs
  • Assist in coordination and development of annual budget and long range planning forecasts
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and create efficiencies
  • Develop economic models for SAGD wells
  • Support commissioning of new equipment and wells
  • Monitor SAGD, source and disposal wells, and provide support to operations with troubleshooting of operational issues.
  • Develop of various programs such as startup procedures, Management of Change (MOC), execution plans and well work-over programs.

Qualifications Include:

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Outstanding organizational skills and a desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong technical understanding of subsurface schemes and surface processes
  • Excellent time management with the ability to prioritize work.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Experience with SAGD industry tools considered an asset.
