2012 Osum Leader of Tomorrow Award Recipients

We’re pleased to introduce you to the recipients of the 2012 Osum Leader of Tomorrow Awards.

Amanda Bischke
Amanda has been heavily involved in Lakeland Gymnastics Club society for several years as a competitor, mentor, volunteer and coach. She’s also obtained her level one judging certification making her one of the youngest judges in Alberta.

Kayla Fayant
Kayla can be found lending a hand at almost every community event at Fishing Lake Métis Settlement. She has demonstrated leadership in the Métis Settlements Youth Network and is dedicated to helping younger students, sharing ideas and making her community a better place.

Amber Phillips
Amber is a passionate leader with a strong social conscience. She’s involved in Me to We and led the community protest for a local senior to have the right to use a stool at work.

Liam Hartzell
Liam is actively involved in volleyball at school, helping his team win the zone championship and mentoring younger players. he helped organize the COPA for kids Flight day and even obtained his private pilot’s license. he also shares his love for music at church and throughout the community.

Amy Plouffe
Amy started working at Thinkwerx in Grade 10 and played a huge role in the growing business during the 2010 AWG. She’s a leader, mentor and motivator for other staff members and her classmates at school, and is well on her way to reaching her goal of owning her own business.

Lucas Church
Lucas is a leader on his hockey, football and baseball teams, and valedictorian of his class. he has been a 4H member for nine years and participated in two mission trips to Mexico.

Andrea Chalut
Andrea is heavily involved in her school’s leadership groups including the Student Council and HOPE – a social justice group. She has also helped organize a fair trade coffee house and market, raising money and awareness for fair trade issues.

Nathan Anderson
Nathan researched and built a 3D printer called a Makerbot which will enable students to rapidly prototype innovative ideas and design. He is also passionate about videography, volunteering for several video projects in the community.

Katie is a champion for the ALS Society in Cold Lake and student leader within her school, initiating events such as the Yoga Day for Amnesty International for the past three years.

Shanea Quinney
Shanea rallied her high school together to raise money and donate to grads at another high school when their decorations were destroyed. She has an infectious attitude, is always willing to take initiative and has tremendous pride in her Cree culture.
