Jesse Alook

Jesse is a member of Bigstone Cree Nation, living most of his life in Wabasca, Alberta. Entering his second year of the nursing program at the University of Alberta, Jesse has the ultimate goal of becoming a doctor. While currently living in Edmonton, Jesse returns to his home community whenever possible and exhibits a strong desire to be a positive role model to younger students (hoping to encourage more of them to finish high school and pursue post secondary studies).

Sarah Jacknife

Sarah is from Elizabeth Metis Settlement and will be completing her final year at the University of British Columbia Okanagan campus this fall. An ambitious student, she is undertaking a double major in Indigenous Studies and Gender and Women Studies. Sarah has often been called upon to represent the voice of Metis youth. Once finished her degree, she hopes to take on a role in a government institution or crisis center that will allow her to support other Aboriginal women to find their voice and realize their potential.

Aaron Janvier

Aaron is from Cold Lake First Nations and is pursuing a nursing degree from the University of Alberta. During a practicum in the homecare department with the Cold Lake Health Center, he was introduced to working with the geriatric population of Cold Lake. That experience sparked his aspiration to improve the quality of health care for the senior population. He plans to move back to Cold Lake First Nations upon completion of his degree.

Jill Janvier

Jill is proud member of Cold Lake First Nations, spending many years working and volunteering for the wellbeing of her community. Her passion for art has inspired her to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of British Kelowna. While it was a difficult decision to leave her home community, Jill is flourishing. While raising two children, she maintains impressive grades within the Fine Arts program, participates within the Okanagan Art Community and volunteers with the Aboriginal Student Center.
