The Lakeland

We will continue to be a good neighbour.

Whether it’s supporting local sports teams, or helping to inspire the scientists of tomorrow through education programs and scholarships, we believe that the Lakeland’s future is our future, and we want to do everything we can to make sure it’s a good one for all of us.

Here is a quick snapshot of a few of the things we’ve been up to in the community.

Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship

We selected a small number of nominees from the Graduating classes of Bonnyville and Cold Lake who exemplify courage, curiosity and leadership to receive a bursary.

Spark Award Scholarship

Each year this scholarship is awarded to a handful of exceptional students from the Indigenous community who have big aspirations for themselves and the world. They see the world for more than what it is, they see it for what it could be, and in doing so they remind us of the power a single spark can have.

High School Science

As part of our dedication to inspire the next generation of creative scientists, we invited Jill Heinerth, Explorer-in-Residence for the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, to speak to high School students from the Lakeland.  As someone who has been to the depths of the earth, Jill shared the lesson: in order to discover something truly amazing, you have to “go deep.”
