Operations Trainer

We’re actively seeking an Operations Trainer to join our Operations Team at our Orion SAGD facility in Cold Lake, Alberta. Reporting to the Supervisor, Projects Integration, the Operations Trainer is responsible for the research, development, production and delivery of all operations training materials as well as the coordination, presentation and implementation of the operations area structured training program.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert in the development of progression Computer/Web Based Training modules
  • Support and provide guidance to operations for procedure writing and development activities
  • Have strong presentation skills and be able to communicate the materials one on one as well as in group settings

Accountabilities:

  • Work with key stakeholders to identify training needs and gaps and develop a training schedule
  • Ensure training program material incorporates regulatory body requirements such as ABSA, OH&S and AER
  • Track, report, audit, evaluate and review the training program on a regular basis to drive continual improvement
  • Measure the quality and effectiveness of current training programs using various feedback methods to implement improvements
  • Deliver the new hire orientation and on-boarding program
  • Supports the Training Progression Program(s)
  • Maintain training documentation and records in the competency tracking program
  • Define, develop and deliver Vendor/Manufacturer specific training programs per project requirements
  • Work with various vendors and training service providers to ensure training meets operational requirements

Qualifications

Skills and Knowledge:

  • 10 years of Oil and Gas experience in an operations environment
  • 5 years experience in a senior operator or team lead role
  • Understands facility maintenance strategies and requirements
  • Working knowledge of process plant dynamics and control and process simulation training platforms
  • Experience with program software platforms such as MS Project, Primavera, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with adult learning/education or completed a Train the Trainer program
  • Experience with program development
  • Detail orientated and strong organisational skills

Education:

  • Post Secondary Technical Diploma or equivalent, and/or
  • Second or Third Class ABSA Power Engineering Certificate of Competency

Other Details:

  • Comfortable working in an operations environment and supporting large teams
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Eligibility to work in Canada on a permanent basis
